Plate compactors compress soil using large steel plates, capable of exerting over 3,000 lbs. of force with a vibratory frequency ranging between 2,000 and 6,000 vibrations per minute (vpm). They are ideal for compacting granular soils, such as sand, stone dust, gravel, sandy gravel, and 2A aggregate. The vibrations compact the ground by forcing the granules to shift closer together and remove air pockets.
